ORGANOTYPIC BRAIN SLICES
Organotypic brain slices (vibrosections) are 3-dimensional brain sections cultured in vitro, which contain many cells of the brain in a complex network and are very close to the in vivo situation. In a previous EU project "BrainMatTrain" we established the use of collagen hydrogels on brain slices and established microcontact printing (µCP) on slices. We contribute to the 3Rs (reduce, refine, replace). Publications on organotypic BRAIN slices Publications on MICROCONTACT PRINTING in BRAIN slices

Current projects
1 We aim to understand how COLLAGEN can restructure GFAP+ astrocytes and Laminin+ vessel in organotypic brain slices (Steiner and Wolfgang, submitted).
2 We aim to set up spectroscopy for organotypic brain slices using DADOS (submitted).
3 We aim to establish new plasma biomarkers for Alzheimers disease using our slice model (Vincent Heidrich, October 26).
4 We aim to set up proof-of-principle for a simple chip-on-the-brain bioluminescence computer model. | ||
